I began my inner peace mission in 1996 when I made a decision that I wanted real change in my life. It was a defining moment that began four years earlier when I experienced a blackout on the family room floor as a stressed-out senior executive. It was a wake-up call where I finally admitted to myself that I was profoundly unhappy despite my outward success. Even worse, I had no idea why or what to do.
I left my corporate job forever and later my ten year old marriage. Two years and eight trips to divorce court later, I became a Christian, setting off an even greater set of trials and triumphs of new careers and a challenging but successful second marriage.
Along the way, I discovered that the cause of my unhappiness was rooted in an unconscious desire to avoid conflict at all costs. Little did I know or understand that this caused most of my relationship and inner conflict struggles. My spiritual journey is entirely one of unraveling my fear of conflict so that I could cooperate with the Holy Spirit and the teachings of the Bible.
Today, I am the founder of InnerPeaceMission.org, a leaderhip coaching & mentoring service for leaders. I help clients who run businesses and not-for-profits find spirit-led answers along with managerial solutions to work/family-based conflicts and difficulties. I teach a spiritual principle Jesus gave us in Matthew 7:5. “First take the plank out of your own eye and then you will see clearly…” It is Jesus’ spiritual way to get cooperation from people who are stealing our peace.
I am the author of five books, and an inspirational speaker at Christian and leadership events. My career background is in business leadership, strategy and organizational change. I am a former corporate vice-president. I have worked across a wide variety of industries, organization sizes and leaders. I am married to Joanne and we have a blended family of four now-grown children near Toronto, Canada.
