It's not what you do. It's HOW you do it. 45 seconds on leadership

  • Who you are as a person affects the people who matter to you. This is your character. All of us have character flaws. Do you know yours?

  • When people upset us, how we respond reflects our sense of judgement. Jesus said, “Do not judge by appearances but judge with right judgement.” John 7:23

  • “First remove the plank from your own eye and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” (Matthew 7:5).  This is the Leadership Principle of Right Judgement.  Until we see ourselves clearly, we cannot see another person clearly, nor make a right judgement in response to them. Learn why.

  • Experiencing pain from other people’s losses

Experiencing pain from other people’s losses

There was a time when I was unable to shed a tear. I was a man frozen inside. No longer. Sometimes the emotion of other people’s losses overwhelms me. In a public place like the Museum of Maritime History in Halifax, it took all my energy to suppress the racking sobs that want to heave my […]

  • The stunning decline of Catholicism in French Canada

The stunning decline of Catholicism in French Canada

As a Catholic Christian, I never fail to be stunned and saddened by the decline of the faith in French Canada. Every village boasts a magnificent, barely-attended cathedral, testifying to its former central role. A chat with my 76 year old father-in-law last night, shed some light on why. Simply put, a deep cynicism has taken root, […]

  • Inner peace and believing in miracles

Inner peace and believing in miracles

If you don’t believe in miracles, you will never fully experience inner peace. If you are not willing to be vulnerable enough to allow space for a miracle to happen, you are unlikely to experience a miracle either.  It’s a chicken and egg situation where the answer, fortunately, is very clear.  You need to be […]

Lawyer’s life destroyed by work-aholism and sleep apnea

For many of us, we need a health disaster to wake us up to the reality that we are listening to our body, even when the message is screaming out loudly.  Vassilios Apostolopoulos is a lawyer who lost everything – his career, his wife, his money, his family – because he was a driven workaholic (like I […]

  • Was Jesus a sh*t disturber?

    Was Jesus a sh*t disturber?

I was in a personal growth class some twenty years ago. The instructor was a best-selling author and founder of the program. There were 27 of us in the class, ranging from a 20 year old ex-male prostitute to a 60 year old grandmother. Every time someone had an issue, he would pick on them […]

  • How I let golf teach me to be in the present

How I let golf teach me to be in the present

Unlike many sports, golf is truly a game that is played against oneself.  For that reason, the head game of golf is that much more noticeable and conquering it that much more important.  Every seasoned golfer knows that ‘in-swing thoughts’ will send any shot slicing off towards the trees faster than a gale force wind! […]
